Milbank LLP Global Project, Energy & Infrastructure Finance partner John Dewar successfully edited the Third Edition of International Project Finance Law and Practice published by Oxford University Press, the definitive guide to legal and practical issues relating to international projects. The book’s contributors include 36 Milbank partners, special counsel and associates across the firm’s London, New York, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Singapore and Tokyo offices from multiple disciplines, including Project Finance, Energy, Securities, Restructuring and Litigation.

The 16-chapter book focuses on the international and cross-border dimensions of project finance, explains practice under English and New York law with guidance on civil law issues, analyses the law in practical context and includes checklists and risk matrices, and covers the full range of sector-specific issues including: transportation; telecommunications; infrastructure/Public Private Partnerships; conventional, renewable and nuclear power; mining; and oil and gas.

Published by Oxford University Press, the new edition follows the 2015 Second Edition and includes a new chapter on the role and documentation of development finance institutions including the World Bank and the African Development Bank. This chapter explains the key roles played by these institutions in international project finance, with a focus on emerging markets, and covers the key policy issues and the impact of such policies on project finance documentation. It also provides an updated focus on environmental and social issues impacting international project finance.

Mr. Dewar said: “This Third Edition of International Project Finance Law and Practice is a true testament to the synergy between Milbank’s international offices and demonstrates the firm’s premier knowledge of, and experience with, the global project finance market. The latest edition, spanning over 700 pages, will serve as a guide for future international projects. We are thrilled that we have been able to continue our partnership with Oxford University Press and look forward to future thought leadership endeavours.”

Rachel Mullaly, Senior Commissioning Editor from Oxford University Press, added: “We are delighted to have worked with John Dewar and an exceptional team of Milbank attorneys on the Third Edition. Our collaboration dates back to the book’s First edition in 2011 and over the last eight years, Milbank has continued to provide unparalleled insight and analysis for key market players and stakeholders. OUP looks forward to sharing this edition with industry-leading practitioners, who regularly turn to the book for guidance on the pressing issues impacting the international project finance market.”
