Milbank LLP is honored to be recognized as a leading practice for banking and private credit in the Legal 500 and Chambers USA 2025 ranking guides. Marcus Dougherty, who leads the US leveraged finance practice and co-heads the global group, along with New York-based partners Lauren Hanrahan, Charles Stern and Benjamin Sayagh, were also ranked as top attorneys in these practice areas.
Milbank’s Global Leveraged Finance Group was ranked in Tier 1 for Commercial Lending: Advice to Bank Lenders in Legal 500’s United States and Global rankings, with the publication highlighting the team’s aptitude across LBO financings, private credit unitranches, recapitalizations and high-yield bridge financing transactions. In addition to the practice ranking, Ms. Hanrahan was featured as a Hall of Fame lawyer and Mr. Dougherty and Mr. Stern were ranked as Leading Partners for providing advice to bank lenders.
Milbank was also ranked in Tier 1 for Commercial Lending: Advice to Direct Lenders/Private Credit in Legal 500’s United States and Global rankings – one of only three firms nationally to be recognized in the top tier. In addition, Mr. Dougherty, Ms. Hanrahan and Mr. Stern were individually recognized as Leading Partners for private credit.
In Chambers USA’s Banking & Finance (New York) rankings, Milbank’s Global Leveraged Finance Group is recognized in Band 2, with clients commenting, “The Milbank team excels at finding solutions for even the most intricate of issues” and “Milbank delivers a fulsome product and never hesitates to bring in the right team required to get the job done.” “There are no holes in their practice. They have really broad and deep expertise and they help their clients get to a deal.” Individually, Mr. Dougherty was ranked in Band 1, with Chambers praising his practice, stating he “wins widespread acclaim for his frequent representation of investment banks and other lenders in commercial financings.” Clients note, “Marcus is super sharp, available at all hours and an excellent problem solver. In Chambers USA’s Private Credit (Nationwide) rankings, Milbank was ranked in Band 2, with Mr. Dougherty being individually featured among the top tier rankings for this practice areas.
