Lauren Hanrahan is a partner in the New York office of Milbank LLP and a member of the firm’s Leveraged Finance Group.

Primary Focus & Experience

Ms. Hanrahan’s practice centers on representing banks, direct lenders and other financial institutions in debt financing transactions. Recognized as a leading lawyer for bank lending and finance in Legal 500, Euromoney’s IFLR, Chambers Global and Chambers USA, she has significant experience in representing lenders in acquisition financings, recapitalizations, unitranche financings, bridge and mezzanine financings, asset based loans, debtor-in-possession, exit facilities, special situation financings and other complex secured lending transactions. She has a broad range of financing experience in both US and international transactions. She also devotes a portion of her practice to acting as agent's counsel or lead investor's counsel in connection with amending and restructuring troubled loans and negotiating workouts.

Recognition & Accomplishments

Ms. Hanrahan was named to The Deal’s Top Women in Dealmaking list for 2023, which recognizes outstanding female M&A, private equity, restructuring and activist investing lawyers who are making an impact in the dealmaking community by advising on the most important transactions of the year and taking leadership roles in promoting change. In 2022, Ms. Hanrahan was highlighted as one of the leading women in the secured finance industry in the Women in Secured Finance Issue of The Secured Lender magazine and she was featured as a top attorney for Banking and Finance in Legal Media Group’s 2022 Guide to the World’s Leading Women in Business Law. She was also shortlisted as the Best in Banking attorney for Euromoney’s Women in Business Law Awards, most recently in 2020.

In 2022, Lauren contributed an Expert Views Q&A in Thomson ReutersPractical Law: “What’s Market” 2021 Year-End Trends in Large Cap and Middle Market Loan Terms” discussing hot button issues in acquisition financing deals.
