Our aADAM affinity group was formed in 2005 and is committed to the recruitment, retention and promotion of attorneys of African descent.

Milbank Celebrates Black History and Heritage

Every year, we host a variety of events to celebrate Black History Month. In February 2021, aADAM hosted a whirlwind of events. We moved and grooved at our dance class with Laci Chisholm of Fit4Dance, a Black woman-owned dance studio based in New York, tested our knowledge of Black History trivia at our trivia night, and practiced our sun salutations at our yoga class with Zia of Brooklyn Yoga Club, a Black woman-owned yoga studio. To wrap up our Black History Month programming, we hosted a discussion with a Black Lives Matter co-founder and hosted a pre-event book club.

Fireside Chats

aADAM regularly hosts fireside chats with alumni and clients. This summer Milbank Alum Nk Udogwu, Associate Director of Attorney Engagement & Integration at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, joined members and allies of aADAM for a fireside chat. Nk recently created and implemented an initiative focused on the retention and advancement of Black attorneys.

Supporting the Black Community

Working with Equal Justice Initiative, we advocate for juveniles who are sentenced to life in prison without parole.

We are also proud to sponsor the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and the Association of Black Women Attorneys.
