Women@Milbank is an affinity group dedicated to the recruitment, retention, and professional development of women attorneys at the firm.

Virtual Summer Program Highlights

  • Speaker Event: Our Pride and Women@Milbank affinity groups hosted a discussion with Jackie Biskupski, Salt Lake City's first openly LGBTQ+ mayor. She discussed the intersectionality of the fight for LGBTQ+ and women’s rights, highlighted the importance of allyship in the fight for equality, and answered audience questions about bipartisanship and voting rights.
  • Flower Arrangement Workshop: Associate and summer associate members were invited to an Edible & Pet-Friendly Flower Arrangement class led by Caroline Bailly and Takaya Sato of Buunch, a flower shop based in New York.

Milbank Celebrates Women’s History Month 2023

Milbank’s recognition of Women’s History Month in the US was once again a firmwide celebration commemorating the tremendous impact women have made on the law, our communities, and across society. Throughout March, we highlighted women’s historical contributions and hosted events that provided networking, mentoring and educational opportunities in a variety of formats.

Our Women@Milbank (W@M) affinity group kicked off the month by hosting a snack hour for International Women’s Day. Milbankers gathered for conversation and treats courtesy of women-owned businesses such as Milk Bar, Pure Confections and mocktails from Mingles.

Mid-month, Judge Victoria Pratt headlined our Women’s History Month Speaker Event in New York. A procedural and reformative justice advocate, author and Executive Director at Odyssey Impact, Judge Pratt discussed her professional background, recounted stories about her time on the bench, and briefly spoke about her book, The Power of Dignity. She also imparted words of wisdom about the importance of treating others with dignity and respect, and suggested ways in which we can contribute to a more just society.

We concluded the month-long celebration with a happy hour event hosted by W@M at Bourbon and Branch. Many W@M members gathered over food and drinks and had a chance to win prizes contributed by women-owned businesses.

Our London office hosted a lunchtime reception for the office to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD). Hosted by committee member Madalena de Abreu and following the recent acquisition addition of Dickson Minto’s London team earlier that month, the IWD celebrations were, for many, an introduction to life as a Milbanker in London. The celebrations were also an opportunity for other newer and more established hands to (re)connect with colleagues, meet committee members, and learn about upcoming initiatives over food and drinks. The new partner champion for W@M London, Miko Bradford, welcomed attendees and took the opportunity to speak briefly about the group’s relaunch, discuss its upcoming plans and say more about the IWD theme.

Milbank will continue promote inclusion and belonging for all members of the Milbank community. Thank you to all who planned and participated in our Women’s History Month events.
