Milbank Advises on Merger between DMK and DOC Kaas

The international law firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP has advised DMK Deutsches Milchkontor and the Dutch cheese producer DOC Kaas on their proposed merger which the European Commission has cleared today without any conditions or remedies. On the basis of their contractual arrangements, DMK and DOC Kaas are currently preparing the consummation of the merger.

As a major German dairy company, DMK currently employs around 7,400 people at 26 sites in 10 different German states and is also represented in China, Russia and the United Arab Emirates. In 2015, the company generated a turnover of more than 5 billion euros, making it one of Europe’s leading dairy companies. DOC Kaas produces around 125,000 tons of cheese per year which is marketed worldwide. In 2015, it generated a turnover of more than 600 million euros. With the merger, the parties intend to strengthen their competitive position on the international markets for dairy products.
