Min Kim is special counsel in the Singapore office of Milbank LLP and a member of the firm’s Global Corporate/M&A Group.

Primary Focus & Experience

Min Kim advises corporate and private equity clients on cross-border M&A transactions, joint ventures, and strategic investments throughout the Asia-Pacific region. He is individually ranked in Chambers Asia-Pacific (2026) for Corporate/M&A: International and is consistently recognized by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific for his work in foreign corporate transactions.

Min focuses on representing US and international private equity sponsors, multinational corporations, and sovereign wealth funds in high-stakes transactions, with particular experience in the technology, digital infrastructure, and energy transition sectors. He is a native Korean speaker and regularly advises on outbound investments by Korean conglomerates into Southeast Asia and global markets.

Min is a recognized thought leader on emerging deal trends in Asia, regularly authoring Milbank Insights articles on topics including AI's impact on M&A, hybrid equity instruments, and digital asset regulation.

Technology, Digital Infrastructure & Telecommunications

  • Advised SK hynix Inc. on its US$9 billion acquisition of Intel's global SSD and NAND flash memory business, completing the second phase closing in March 2025.
  • Advised Lightstorm (I Squared Capital) on the distressed acquisition of the JGA-North, JGA-South, and SEA-US trans-Pacific subsea cable systems through parallel receiverships in Delaware and Singapore, securing approximately 21,000 km of data corridor connecting the US, Guam, Japan, and Australia. This transaction was named Value-Add Deal of the Year by IJGlobal (2025).
  • Advised Udenna Corporation on its US$5.4 billion joint venture with China Telecommunications Corporation to establish DITO Telecommunity, the Philippines' third national mobile operator. This transaction was named M&A Deal of the Year (Premium) by ALB.
  • Advised SK materials on its Series D investment in Group14 Technologies, a leading global manufacturer of silicon-carbon battery materials.

Energy & Infrastructure

  • Advised I Squared Capital on the structuring and US$370 million minority sale of its India city-gas distribution platform to Osaka Gas, Sumitomo Corporation, and JOIN, following an initial up-to-US$300 million joint venture with AG&P covering 12 concessions.
  • Advised Medco Power on the incremental acquisition of equity in PT Paiton Energy, Indonesia's largest independent power producer, raising Medco's holding to become the single largest shareholder with long-term influence over 2 GW of baseload capacity.
  • Advised SK Gas on its joint venture with Apex Clean Energy to develop utility-scale energy storage projects.

Consumer, Retail & Healthcare

  • Advised Masan Group on a US$350 million Series E investment in The CrownX Corporation at a US$8.2 billion valuation, with participation from TPG, ADIA, and SeaTown (Temasek).
  • Advised Masan Group on the sale of H.C. Starck Holding GmbH, a global tungsten business, to Mitsubishi Materials Corporation.
  • Advised Masan Group on a US$410 million investment in VCM Services and Trading by SK Group.
  • Advised Bain Capital on its minority investment in Mayapada Hospital Group (PT Sejahteraraya Anugrahjaya Tbk), a six-hospital network in Indonesia.

Min Kim is widely recognized as a leading practitioner in the field of corporate M&A. He is ranked as a “Leading Associate” for Corporate and M&A by The Legal 500 and was named a 2023 Rising Star in Singapore by Asian Legal Business (ALB). His expertise spans international M&A, joint venture, private equity, and private credit transactions.

Min has played a pivotal role in several landmark deals, including Udenna Corporation’s joint venture with China Telecommunications Corporation, which was recognized as ALB’s Southeast Asia M&A Deal of the Year (Premium) and ALB’s Philippine Law Awards 2020: M&A Deal of the Year. He also advised on the RAPID Refinery and Petrochemical Project Financing, which received multiple accolades, including The Asset’s Triple A Asia Infrastructure Awards 2020: Oil and Gas Deal of the Year (Regional) and Indonesia’s Oil and Gas Deal of the Year. Additionally, Min’s contribution to the IJGlobal Asia Pacific Petrochemicals Deal of the Year 2020 and IFLR’s Project Finance Deal of the Year 2019 further underscores his exceptional capabilities in complex and high-profile transactions.
