Milbank LLP was recognized with five 2025 Asia Pacific Deal of the Year Awards at the IJGlobal Investor Awards and IJGlobal ESG Awards, held on November 19 in Singapore. These honors underscore Milbank’s leadership in advising on landmark transactions across the region’s energy and infrastructure sectors.
The firm’s transactions were recognized in the following categories:
IJGlobal Investor Awards
- Market Impact Award: Milbank represented Actis, through a strategic partnership with Manila Electric Company and its subsidiary, Solar Philippines New Energy Corporation, in connection with its $600 million investment in the Philippines-based Terra Solar Project - the world’s largest integrated renewables and energy storage project to date. Led by Hong Kong partners James Grandolfo and Neeraj Budhwani, the transaction is the largest foreign direct investment for a greenfield infrastructure project in the Philippines.
- Value-Add Deal of the Year: Milbank advised Lightstorm, the pan‑Asia cloud‑network platform owned by global infrastructure investor I Squared Capital, on its distressed acquisition of three strategic subsea‑cable assets that span roughly 21,000 kilometers and deliver approximately 64 Tbps of lit capacity. The Milbank team was led by partner Jacqueline Chan and special counsel Min Kim in Singapore.
IJGlobal ESG Awards
- Geothermal Energy Deal of the Year: Milbank advised PT Supreme Energy Muara Laboh in connection with the development and financing of the next phase of the Muara Laboh Geothermal Power Project in Indonesia, which will expand the project’s generating capacity to approximately 170 MW, doubling the current capacity. The Milbank team was led by Singapore partners James Murray and James Orme and special counsel Andrew Gibb, all of whom also advised on the development and financing of the first phase of the project.
- Brownfield Deal of the Year: The firm’s work on the Muara Laboh expansion project also was recognized in this category.
- Solar Deal of the Year: Milbank’s representation of Actis in connection with its $600 million investment in the Terra Solar Project also received this award.
