Neeraj Budhwani

Primary Focus & Experience

With over two decades of experience, Mr. Budhwani focuses his practice on cross-border private equity and M&A transactions, and has extensive experience advising on leveraged buy-outs, acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures as well as public to private transactions and general securities related work. He regularly advises many of the world’s leading international private equity firms, alternative investment funds and other financial and strategic investors in connection with their activities throughout the Asian region.

• Actis on its investment in the Philippines-based Terra Solar Project, which is the world’s largest integrated renewables and energy storage project to date.
• ADV Partners Limited in connection with its leveraged buyout of ISS Environmental Services (HK) Limited.
• Asia Financial Services Company, an entity controlled by CVC Capital Partners Asia Pacific III L.P, in connection with the sale of listed shares in Sun Hung Kai & Co. Limited.
• Carl Zeiss Vision International GmbH on its acquisition of 100% of the shares in and privatization of Taiwan listed Brighten Optix.
• CVC Capital Partners on the sale of OANDA Global Corporation to FTMO group.
• Flow Traders Ltd in its partnership with DWS Group and Galaxy to create AllUnity, a BaFin-regulated e-money institute.
• Globe Telecom Inc. in connection with a joint venture partnership with ST Telemedia Global Data Centres and Ayala Corporation for the development, construction and operation of data center projects in the Philippines.
• Goldman Sachs on the sale of its shares in Antuit Holdings Pte. Ltd. to Zebra Technologies Corporation.
• IMM Investment Corp. in connection with the sale of aircraft leasing platform Crianza Aviation to global aircraft asset manager FPG Amentum and investment firm BC Partners.
• PAG Capital on the sale of Food Union's European ice cream business to Froneri, a joint venture between PAI Partners and Nestlé and one of the world's largest ice cream companies.
• Union Bank of the Philippines in connection with its acquisition of Citigroup Inc. in the Philippines through a highly competitive auction process.
• Unispace in connection with its acquisition of Downstream, a leading experiential design company providing digital and physical experiences in numerous destination spaces around the world.

Mr. Budhwani has been recognized as a leading lawyer by Chambers Asia-Pacific in the areas of Corporate/M&A and Private Equity. Legal 500 Asia Pacific similarly ranks him as a “Leading Partner” in these areas. In IFLR1000, Mr. Budhwani was recognized as a “Highly Regarded” lawyer for his expertise in Private Equity in Hong Kong. He is recognized as an International A-list lawyer for India in the 2025 edition of India Business Law Journal. In 2023, Mr. Budhwani was recognized as one of the Top 10 Most Influential M&A Lawyers in China by Business Today.
