Primary Focus & Experience
James has experience acting on a broad range of matters, with specific experience in financing and leasing transactions across the aviation industry. James acts for financiers, leasing companies and operators on a wide range of transactions, including financing, refinancing, leasing and sale and purchase transactions and restructurings involving fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
A selection of James’ recent experience includes advising:
- a group of secured creditors in respect of the reorganisation of Nordic Aviation Capital, through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy process.
- SMBC Aviation Capital on its US$6.7bn acquisition of Goshawk Management Limited.
- an investment firm on its secured debt financing to an international lessor.
- a major lessor on its acquisition of a number of aircraft from another lessor.
- a major Irish lessor on the sale and leaseback of a number of aircraft to various airlines.
Recognition & Accomplishments
James has previously spent time on secondment in the legal team of a major international bank, and in the commercial team of a major international lessor.
