Milbank LLP was awarded seven Deal of the Year awards at the IJGlobal Investor Awards Americas, highlighting Milbank’s leading role advising on landmark transactions across the energy and infrastructure sectors. John Franchini, Global Corporate/M&A partner and co-head of Milbank’s Global Infrastructure practice, was also named Energy M&A Lawyer of the Year.
The below Milbank transactions were recognized in the following categories:
- Bond of the Year and Utilities Deal of the Year, Latin America: Antofagasta's Minera Los Pelambres Water Assets. Advised in connection with the financing of the expansion of Minera Los Pelambres’ desalination plant and the development of an impulsion system for the transportation of 630 L/s of seawater from the desalination plant to Minera Los Pelambres’ mining site.
- Infrastructure Acquisition Deal of the Year, North America: Stonepeak's JV With Louisiana LNG Infrastructure. Advised in connection with the acquisition by Stonepeak of a 40% stake in Louisiana LNG Infrastructure LLC, a joint venture with Woodside Energy Group.
- Restructure of the Year, North America: Cricket Valley Restructuring. Advised in connection with arranging the out-of-court restructuring and recapitalization of the Cricket Valley Energy Center, a 1,171 MW natural gas power generation facility located in Dutchess County, New York.
- Market Impact Award and Value-Add Deal of the Year, North America: Harvestone Low Carbon Partners and Energy Capital Partners CCS and Tax Equity. Advised in connection with a tax credit transfer with respect to the Blue Flint ethanol plant located in McLean County, North Dakota.
- Securitisation Deal of the Year, North America: T-Mobile and KKR JV Acquisition of Metronet. Advised in connection with T-Mobile and KKR’s joint venture to acquire leading US fiber-optic internet service provider Metronet.
The global awards celebrate the best fund raising and deployment, as well as M&A activity in the energy and infrastructure sector. Milbank was also recently recognized with the Market Impact and Value-Add Deals of the Year at the IJGlobal Investor Awards APAC and the Refinance Deal of the Year at the IJGlobal Investor Awards EMEA.
