Milbank Transportation and Space partners Paul Ng and Nick Swinburne spoke at the Airfinance Journal Global 2021 Reconnect Conference in London on September 22, 2021.
Mr. Ng, who leads the firm’s Aviation and Asset Finance practice in Asia, spoke alongside Dr. Murat Seker, CFO of Turkish Airlines, on a panel titled “How Should Investors and the Broader Industry View European Full-Service Carriers?” Panelists discussed how the aviation landscape changed for European full-service carriers throughout the pandemic, and included an analysis of the carrier's future fleet and financing plans as well as opportunities for the leasing and investing communities to engage in this space. They also covered the importance of capacity discipline over the last 12 months.
Mr. Swinburne, co-head of the firm’s Transportation and Space team in London, spoke on a panel titled “Comparative Analysis of Aviation’s Advantage in the Transportation Sector.” Panelists discussed investment considerations across the different parts of the transportation sector, focusing on aviation’s relative advantage for debt and equity investors alike. Other panelists were David Andrews, Managing Partner, Transportation at Hudson Structured Capital Management, Lourens Geldenhuys, Chief Financial Officer at Stratos Aero and Mark Streeter, Managing Director, Airline/Aircraft Credit Research at JP Morgan.
The Airfinance Journal conference, which is typically held in Dublin, Ireland, is the premier aviation finance conference for the industry and took place as a hybrid virtual and in-person format, from September 22-23, 2021 at St. Ermin's Hotel in London. The conference brings together members of the global aviation finance community, including representatives from airlines, leasing companies, financial institutions, manufacturing sectors, investment houses and government bodies.
