Milbank LLP is pleased to announce that Litigation & Arbitration partner Tawfiq Rangwala received the South Asian Bar Association of North America’s 2022 Cornerstone Award. Mr. Rangwala was recognized at the annual SABA conference in San Francisco on July 14-17.
Prior recipients of this award include Preet Bharara, former US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Gurbir Grewal, Director of Enforcement at the Securities and Exchange Commission, Chief Judge Srinivasan of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and Paul Grewal, Chief Legal Officer of Coinbase.
The award honors an individual who is a “cornerstone” of SABA North America and recognizes high achievement in promoting the professional development of the South Asian legal community, ensuring the civil liberties of the South Asian community, serving the legal interests of the South Asian community and the community at large, or encouraging greater participation by diverse groups in the legal profession or the government.
The recognition signifies Mr. Rangwala’s accomplishments and dedication to supporting the South Asian community. He provides mentorship to young lawyers and law students through various diverse bar associations, including the South Asian Bar Association. Mr. Rangwala was previously given the Litigation Achievement Award at SABA New York’s 2021 Annual Leadership Awards Gala.
Mr. Rangwala’s practice focuses on defense of US and international regulatory and criminal enforcement matters, as well as internal investigations relating to business activities and sensitive cultural topics. He also has extensive experience handling federal and state court litigation of complex commercial cases involving securities and corporate law, contract disputes and financial restructuring. Earlier this year, Mr. Rangwala was also named Chair of the firm’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee.
