Additionally, John and Global Project, Energy and Infrastructure Finance partner Munib Hussain will also continue to co-author the United Kingdom chapter.
The GTDT Islamic Finance & Markets publication provides an overview of key terms and concepts, including the extent and development of Islamic finance, specific policies of regulatory oversight, definitions and explanations of Islamic finance-specific terminology and financial products, guidelines and regulations for institutions and authorities, dispute procedures, and in-depth analysis and comments on the latest trends in each jurisdiction, all written by today's leading international Islamic finance experts.
John Dewar is a renowned global project finance lawyer and leads Milbank’s Islamic finance practice. He has a reputation for advising on innovative, “market-first” transactions around the world, particularly multi-sourced financings, including those involving multilateral and export credit agencies and Islamic institutions. He has advised on some of the most complex Shariah-compliant structured, leveraged and project finance transactions, as well as on sukuk issuances and Islamic finance restructurings.
Munib Hussain is a member of the firm’s Islamic Finance Business Unit. He has broad experience in advising lenders, sponsors and sovereigns on international projects, energy and infrastructure financings, and restructurings involving ECAs, multilaterals, and commercial and Islamic banks.
Both Mr. Dewar and Mr. Hussain recently advised the managers on the $1.5 billion first-of-a-kind project sukuk issuance by TMS Issuer S.à r.l for the refinancing of a bridge facility entered into in connection with GreenSaif’s acquisition of a minority stake in Aramco Gas Pipelines Company, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabian Oil Company.
