Milbank LLP advised CTBC Bank, MUFG and Standard Chartered as Mandated Lead Arrangers, Underwriters and Bookrunners, alongside Entie Commercial Bank as Mandated Lead Arranger in connection the US$283 million green loan financing of a hyperscale data center located within Sedenak Tech Park in Johor, Malaysia. The project is being developed by Decarbonization Solutions Platform (“DDSP”), a developer of hyperscale digital and decarbonized energy infrastructure across Asia-Pacific. The 45 MW built-to-suit hyperscale campus is designed with closed loop liquid-cooling and an AI-ready high density compute environment.
The financing marks an important milestone in DDSP’s strategy to build next-generation, AI-ready digital infrastructure across Asia-Pacific and further strengthens the platform’s long-term commitment to Malaysia, including the continued expansion of its Johor operations. The Johor campus forms part of DDSP’s broader Asia-Pacific 1.1 GW development pipeline, spanning hyperscale digital infrastructure and decarbonized energy projects across key regional markets including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Taiwan.
“The successful completion of this green loan financing marks a significant step forward for critical digital infrastructure in Malaysia and will help support the growing demand for data center capacity across Southeast Asia,” said Milbank’s Asia Managing Partner David Zemans. “We are pleased to have supported the lenders on this landmark transaction.”
“This financing demonstrates the increasing sophistication of the lending market for AI-ready data center infrastructure in Southeast Asia,” added Global Project, Energy and Infrastructure Finance partner James Orme. “Our team’s deep experience at the intersection of energy, sustainability and next-generation technology was instrumental in navigating the complex structuring required for a green-certified facility of this scale.”
The Milbank team was led by Mr. Zemans and special counsel Rosaline Yusman and included partner James Orme, of counsel Desiree Woo and associates An Guo, Wei Sheng Lee and Lauren Kava.
