Milbank advised Funke Mediengruppe on a syndicated loan financing in connection with the new shareholder structure of Funke Mediengruppe. The Grotkamp family - Petra Grotkamp, Julia Becker, Nora Marx and Niklas Wilcke - will take over the shares held by the Schubries and Holthoff-Pförtner shareholders and thus control 100% of the shares in Funke Mediengruppe. The transaction is subject to antitrust approval by the Austrian competition authorities.
Funke Mediengruppe, headquartered in Essen, is a leading German media group with diverse interests in digital and print businesses in Germany and other European countries with more than 6,000 employees.
Milbank provided comprehensive advice to Funke Mediengruppe on a large-volume financing, which will subsequently be syndicated, as well as on the corporate and tax aspects of the transaction.
The Milbank Team was led by partner Thomas Ingenhoven (Finance, Frankfurt) and included partners Martin Erhardt (Corporate/M&A) and Thomas Kleinheisterkamp (Tax, both Munich) as well as associates Gerrit Merkel, Lara Milione (both Finance, Frankfurt), Josef Wittmann and Johannes Rogge-Balleer (both Corporate/M&A, Munich).
