Milbank LLP is pleased to announce that Joo Hee Lee has joined its Seoul office as a partner in the firm’s Global Project, Energy and Infrastructure Finance Group.
“Joo Hee is widely regarded as one of the strongest finance practitioners in Korea, and we are delighted to welcome her to Milbank,” said Milbank Chairman Scott A. Edelman. “She has advised on many of the most complex cross-border transactions in the region, and she will be a tremendous asset to our clients and our global team.”
Her practice is focused on the representation of corporate sponsors, financial institutions (ECAs and otherwise) and financial sponsors/portfolio companies in a wide range of high-profile energy/infrastructure transactions inbound into Korea and outbound across the globe.
“Joo Hee’s exceptional track record of executing complex deals across M&A, project finance and ECA-backed structures makes her a natural fit for Milbank,” said Dan Bartfeld, chair of the firm’s Global Project, Energy and Infrastructure Finance Group and member of the firm’s Executive Committee. “As Asia experiences unprecedented growth in energy and infrastructure transactions, her ability to navigate sophisticated deals will be beneficial to our clients.”
“Milbank is at the forefront of Asia’s digital infrastructure growth,” said David Zemans, Managing Partner of Milbank’s Asia Practice and Singapore office. “Joo Hee joins at a time of surging deal activity in Asian energy and digital infrastructure – with Korea emerging as a particularly exciting market for energy infrastructure M&A.”
"I'm thrilled to be joining Milbank. The firm's world-class platform directly aligns with my experience in energy and infrastructure M&A and financing — spanning Korean inbound investments, Asian renewable energy financing, and outbound ECA deals,” Joo Hee Lee said.
Joo Hee joins Milbank from Linklaters, where she served as the managing partner for Seoul and a partner in the Energy and Infrastructure group. She is qualified in California, England and Wales, and Korea. She was the first ever Korean-qualified lawyer to join an international law firm directly from the Judicial Research & Training Institute in Korea.
