Milbank’s Project, Energy and Infrastructure Finance partner John Dewar has authored a chapter entitled ‘Recent Developments and Current Trends in Energy and Infrastructure Project Finance’ in Euromoney’s Energy and Environment Expert Guide for 2018. The chapter considers the recent challenges that affected the project finance sector, then analyses the trends that have emerged and continue to impact the sector today. The three key trends identified include the rise of renewable energy, changes in the project bond market (including the renewed attractiveness of bonds in the current climate), and the development of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) market. In each section, John comments on the key drivers and notes regions who have been most active in the market. The article concludes with a look ahead to what to expect in 2018, and considers whether the trends identified will strengthen further in the coming year.
