Milbank LLP International Arbitration partner Viren Mascarenhas will speak on the Stanford International Arbitration Association’s “ISDS and Energy Transition: The Path Ahead” panel on Monday, April 29 at 12:45 p.m. PDT.
The online webinar will discuss the possible disputes that emerge out of the energy transition between States and investors, investment risks owing to regulatory changes by governments (who are attempting to comply with their international climate obligations), and possible steps that can be taken in a project/dispute cycle to maximize investment treaty protection and promote energy transition.
Mr. Mascarenhas specializes in international arbitration (construction, commercial and investor-state arbitration). He also draws on his experiences working at the International Court of Justice and at the Special Court for Sierra Leone to advise companies on business and human rights and ESG obligations under international law.
