Share

For a third year running, Milbank Project, Energy & Infrastructure Finance partner John Dewar has acted as the Contributing Editor to Getting the Deal Through’s Electricity Regulation guide and co-author for the England & Wales chapter with associate Seyda Duman.

Within the 2021 guide, John and Seyda explore new trends noting the need to respond to the fast-evolving global energy market and the significant changes arising from the decarbonisation of energy, the new empowerment of consumers, the ever-increasing dynamism of energy markets and the deployment of disruptive sustainable infrastructure technologies.

The guide provides an overview of the regulation and business of electricity generation, transmission, distribution and supply, provided by lawyers writing on the markets in their own jurisdictions. Areas covered include: governmental policy, legislative framework and industry overview, government and administrative authorisations, interconnection of generation to the grid, transactions between utilities and their affiliates, access to transmission services and the distribution grid, tariffs and price regulation of transmission, distribution and sales, authorisations, regulators, merger control and competition, special requirements for foreign companies, public service obligations and cross-border electricity supply.
