On Thursday, November 17, Milbank LLP hosted its Annual Real Estate 3 on 3 Basketball Invitational with rosters of fierce competitors from across the real estate industry at Chelsea Piers in New York City. Participants included Milbank lawyers and a host of players from over 20 companies (including Apollo, Ares, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, Lone Star Funds, Monarch & PIMCO). Over 175 participants and spectators cheered on their teams. First-time entrant, Cannon Hill (f/k/a Normandy Real Estate Partners) edged out Lone Star Funds to take home the trophy as winners of the 2022 championship.
Each year, Milbank selects a partner charity for the tournament, using the event to raise funds for charities that are close to us and our clients. This year’s partner charity was Bake It Happen (www.bakeithappen.net). Commenting on the Invitational, Milbank Real Estate partner Erwin Dweck said, “I am pleased to report that we set a record this year, raising over $150,000 for Bake It Happen/Cancer Couch, 100% of which will fund Metastatic Breast Cancer Research at Memorial Sloan Kettering and the Dana Farber Cancer Center. What Shari Brooks has been able to accomplish with this charity is truly amazing and we are thrilled to have been able to collaborate with her and Tom Scalera on this important work.” A special thank you to Cressie Taylor-Scott and Mary Ceraso for coordinating the event.
