When: Saturday, May 11, 2019, 9:30AM to noon, followed by a BBQ lunch
Where: Van Cortlandt Park, NYC. Meet at the Lake House/Golf House – click here for a Google map, and here for a map showing the short walk from the subway to the meeting spot.
What we’ll be doing:
You can choose from a variety of tasks to help beautify the Park, including:
General cleanup of branches, leaves, and trash
Plant removal and re-planting – helping to replace damaging invasive species with native plants to strengthen the park’s ecological balance
Painting – project to be determined, but in previous years, our volunteers have freshened up benches, playground equipment, and completely re-painted and refreshed a historic bridge!
Heavier lifting – for those looking for a more active morning, tasks might involve shoveling, clearing paths, moving stones, and more
At noon, we’ll gather back at the Lake House/Golf House to relax over a delicious lunch catered by Dinosaur Bar-B-Que along with a magic show and games for the kids.
