He has experience advising a range of lenders, borrowers, and sponsors, with a key focus on project and infrastructure financing across sectors including transport and digital infrastructure, energy transition, renewable and conventional power. Samuel also has gained experience as a secondee to a major multinational energy company.
A selection of Samuel’s experience includes advising:
- the EIB, Euler Hermes, KEXIM, K-sure, NEXI, Riksgalden and a group of commercial bank lenders in connection with the $5 billion financing for the expansion of Northvolt Ett, an electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing facility and associated recycling facility in Skellefteå, Sweden.
- TotalEnergies and various of its joint venture counterparts on a large number of project financing and covered loan arrangements across multiple geographies and sectors including various renewables projects.
- The project financing in connection with the development and financing of Envision AESC’s battery gigafactory in Douai, France.
- Natixis as lender to Amber Infrastructure in connection with the acquisition financing of data center assets in Australia.*
- the lenders to Lochard Energy on the refinancing of its debt facilities in connection with the Iona LNG Storage Facility in Victoria, Australia.*
- The Clean Energy Finance Corporation as lender in connection with the greenfield project financing for the Bannerton and Oakey II solar farms in Australia.*
- a consortium of sponsors in connection with their acquisition of ASX listed fiber optic broadband supplier Uniti Group Limited.*
- the sponsors in connection with the project financing of the Queen’s Wharf Integrated Resort and Casino development in Brisbane, Australia.*
- a consortium of sponsors in connection with the acquisition of ASX listed infrastructure portfolio company Spark Infrastructure Limited.*
- the State of New South Wales on the refinancing of Transurban’s Westconnex PPP project in New South Wales, Australia.*
- Kalium Lakes Limited on the project financing for the Beyondie sulphate of potash project in Western Australia. This transaction was named Energy & Resources Deal of the Year in the 2020 Australasian Law Awards.*
