Daniel Rios Zertuche is an associate in the New York office of Milbank LLP and a member of the firm’s Global Project, Energy and Infrastructure Finance Group.

Primary Focus & Experience

Mr. Rios Zertuche’s practice focuses on advising project sponsors and lenders in international project financings. His recent experience includes the representation of:

  • The initial purchasers and lenders in a bank/bond financing by EnfraGen Energía Sur, S.A.U., Prime Energía SpA, and EnfraGen Spain, S.A.U., valued at $1.76 billion; and
  • The lenders in the dual-currency $275 million and COP$226 billion financing for Caoba Inversiones, an investment platform developed through a joint venture between Colombian energy key player Celsia and Cubico Sustainable Investments.
  • Barclays, BBVA Mexico, Santander Mexico, SMBC, NAFIN and Bancomext as Lenders and BBVA Mexico as Hedge Coordinator in connection with the acquisition financing by the Mexican Government (through FONADIN and managed by Mexico Infrastructure Partners) of 13 Mexican power plants owned by the Spanish energy group Iberdrola for US$6bn.

Recognition & Accomplishments

Mr. Rios Zertuche is a native Spanish speaker. He was the recipient of the William Michael Treanor Scholarship, and received his LL.M., cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law and his law degree from Universidad Iberoamericana Ciudad de México.
