Our Environmental team shepherds industry leaders through the thicket of environmental challenges that impact their business on a global scale.

We work closely with our Corporate, Finance, Restructuring and Capital Market teams to counsel purchasers, sellers, lenders, borrowers, creditors, debtors and underwriters on a wide range of financing, M&A, restructuring and securities matters, especially for energy and infrastructure projects throughout the world.

Whether negotiating renewable energy projects, resolving environmental issues for heavy manufacturing companies in M&A matters, advising on financing oil and gas pipelines or counseling the acquisition of debt assets for a nationwide portfolio of gas stations, we can advise on both business and regulatory aspects, including complex environmental and permitting matters that can be central to each transaction.

Natural resource production and distribution—we have identified and contractually allocated environmental risks in numerous upstream, midstream and downstream oil & gas and natural resource financings and acquisitions.

Power—attuned to the complex interplay of environmental concerns and market fundamentals, we regularly advise electricity generation companies on permitting, Equator Principle matters and known and likely environmental liabilities, and counsel lenders and investors on the business implications of proposed and pending environmental legislation and regulations, including those relating to global climate change.

Public Private Partnership–in one of the largest PPPs to close in the US water sector, we advised lenders in historic $923 million Vista Ridge water project for San Antonio, Texas, shifting risk from the public to the private domain.

Petrochemical – we advised Lotte Chemical Corporation on finance and environmental issues for a $1.6 billion petrochemical plant project in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Renewable energy—our experience in this sector spans the US, Latin America and beyond, including advising on the wind project with the country’s first ever eagle permit and on Chile’s largest wind project.

Specialty chemical—we advised an ad hoc creditor committee that acquired substantially all of the Vertellus Specialties Inc. for over $450 million.
