Milbank Intellectual Property partner Lauren Drake commented on the debate about how leaders should proceed in their efforts to bring more women into the intellectual property world and STEM fields.

In IP Watchdog’s article “Moving Beyond Words to Action: Women in IP Share Real-World Tips to Close the Gender Gap,” Ms. Drake explains, “Efforts to close the gender gap should focus on retention. Each year we see more and more talented women IP associates. We must do a better job helping these associates succeed. This will require improved logistics, including systems to support working parents and systems to track and ensure that women associates are getting opportunities to develop their skills. This will also require improved mentoring.”

Ms. Drake is a partner in Milbank’s Los Angeles office and a member of the firm’s Litigation & Arbitration group. Her practice focuses on intellectual property and patent litigation, including patent post-grant proceedings.
