Milbank Derivatives partner John Williams will be speaking on a panel titled “Market Volatility and Impact on the Clearing System” during FIA’s virtual Law & Compliance Division Conference, which is being held April 28-30, 2021.
Panelists will discuss the impact that the market volatility resulting from negative WTI futures prices, the COVID-19 pandemic and sub-Reddit interventions in equity, options, and silver have had on the clearing system. The speakers will also share lessons that clearing firms can take away from this past year as well as updates on what can be expected in the way of regulatory responses to come. The panel will be available as an on-demand session.
The virtual L&C conference will cover legal and regulatory issues impacting the derivatives industry as well as practical considerations driven by the remote work environment. Topics include enforcement, climate risk, digital asset regulation, SEC issues, clearing models and more. Keynote speakers this year include Preet Bharara, Former US Attorney for SDNY and Rostin Benham, Acting Chairman for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
