Share

Milbank LLP Antitrust partner Fiona Schaeffer, in conjunction with the American Bar Association Antitrust Law Section, is hosting a virtual discussion on the changing role of sustainability and social goals in the analysis of transactions and behavior under competition laws. The discussion, titled “Antitrust and Sustainability: Part of the Solution or Part of the Problem,” will feature a number of former government enforcers and legal practitioners with a variety of perspectives on the subject.

The discussion will take place on Monday, July 11 from 12:00 – 1:30 PM ET. It is the third in a series of panels on high-profile competition laws, following a panel on merger enforcement in the United States (here) and a debate on Consumer Welfare Standard (here).

Panelists will address questions such as:

  • Will fear of competition enforcement chill legitimate collaborative behavior necessary to address pressing social problems?
  • How does it stack up against the concerns of the consumer welfare standard? And which should carry the most weight?

The panel will be led by Bill Kovacic, former chair of the Federal Trade Commission.
