Milbank Wins Four IFR “Deal of the Year” Awards

Milbank LLP is pleased to announce that the firm has won four “Deal of the Year” awards at the 2021 IFR Awards and IFR Asia Awards. IFR (The International Financing Review) is the leading source of fixed income, capital markets and investment banking news analysis and commentary.

Speaking on behalf of the Milbank teams advising on the transactions, Hong Kong office head and Global Capital Markets partner James Grandolfo said, “We are honored to have these landmark transactions recognized by IFR. The following transactions on which Milbank advised were named by IFR as “Deals of the Year”:

Emerging Markets: Asia Bond Deal of the Year (IFR Awards): Milbank advised Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Axis Bank, BNP PARIBAS, Mizuho Securities, MUFG, and State Bank of India, London Branch as underwriters in connection with an overseas bond issuance by JSW Steel Limited (“JSW Steel”), a leading Indian steel maker. The transaction includes two tranches that have a combined value of US$1 billion. The deal team was led by Mr. Grandolfo.

ESG Bond Deal of the Year (IFR Asia Awards): Milbank advised Credit Suisse and other major international financial institutions as underwriters on the Rule 144A / Regulation S issuance of US$500 million 5.05% notes due 2032 by multinational Indian steel maker JSW Steel Limited. This was the global steel industry’s first US-dollar dominated sustainability-linked bond. The deal team was led by Mr. Grandolfo.

Indonesia Capital Markets Deal of the Year (IFR Asia Awards): Milbank advised PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk, the largest food solutions supplier in Indonesia, in connection with its debut US$1.75 billion dual-tranche bond issuance. The deal marks the first 30-year investment-grade offering by a non-state-owned Indonesian company. The deal team was led by Global Capital Markets partner Giles Kennedy.

Philippines Capital Markets Deal of the Year (IFR Asia Awards): Milbank advised the joint global coordinators in connection with the US$1 billion Rule 144A/Reg S initial public offering by Monde Nissin Corporation. This is the Philippines’ largest-ever IPO to date. The deal team was led by Global Capital Markets partner Paul Pery and Mr. Grandolfo.
