Milbank LLP is pleased to announce the firm’s participation in the first-ever Career Discovery Week, co-hosted by the NYC Department of Education and the Partnership for New York City.
As part of the career development week, Milbank hosted approximately 25 high school sophomores in the firm’s New York office for an immersive day in which the students learned about career opportunities in the legal industry. Students had the opportunity to go on a workplace tour, participate in a career development panel, and learn more about the exciting work that Milbank does on a day-to-day basis, with both the firm’s corporate and pro bono clients.
Career Discovery at Milbank
Career Discovery Week provides an opportunity for over 6,000 New York City tenth graders, many of whom come from underserved communities, to gain access to professional career development resources and learn about a wide range of career opportunities in New York’s corporate and financial spheres. The students who attended Milbank’s Career Discovery Week activities have been matched to the firm based on an alignment between the legal industry and their interests and school curricula.
Milbank Chairman Scott Edelman said: “At Milbank, we are deeply committed to providing thoughtful and innovative professional development training and resources to our young attorneys. We are thrilled to be expanding the reach of this mission to students in our New York City community in collaboration with the Partnership for New York City and the Department of Education, and hope to be a continued resource to these young people as they consider careers in law.”
“Being a graduate of a NYC public high school, I am excited to be part of the first Career Discovery Week and look forward to hosting New York City’s next generation at Milbank as they learn about new possibilities for their future,” said Tax partner Mike Shah.
