Peace One Day, a pro bono client of Milbank and a nonprofit organization whose mission is to institutionalize and promote awareness of the International Day of Peace on September 21, held its 20th anniversary at Shakespeare’s Globe in London. The anniversary’s event lineup, which included panel discussions on cyber non-violence, domestic abuse and sexism, was led by Sir Mark Rylance, an Oscar-winning actor and former artistic director of Shakespeare's Globe.

Peace One Day was founded in 1999 with the goal of formalizing an annual day of non-violence across the globe. Two years later, in 2001, the member states of the United Nations instituted September 21 as an International Day of Peace. Since then, Peace One Day has worked to expand awareness of Peace Day and further promote worldwide unity and cooperation through the creation of global partnerships like its Corporate Coalition, Student Coalition, and NGO Coalition. As a partner in Peace One Day’s Corporate Coalition, Milbank has supported the organization’s message of non-violence through pro bono legal work and the firm also supported the organization’s launch of its Impact Profile, an initiative created in partnership with the University of Oxford and the Oxford Union.
