Milbank LLP received three “Deal of the Year” awards from Proximo Latin America in a recent recognition of its market-leading Latin America practice. The Latin America awards ceremony was held on March 2, 2023, in Miami.
The Proximo Deals of the Year Awards recognize notable transactions across the region in the infrastructure and energy sectors. Winners are selected based on input from the publication and peer firms across various sectors and regions.

Milbank transactions were honored in the following categories:
- Latin America Renewables Deal of the Year – GIP Atlas Renewable Energy Acquisition: Milbank represented the lenders in connection with the acquisition by Global Infrastructure Partners (“GIP”) of equity interests in certain affiliates of Atlas Renewable Energy, which are developing and operating renewable energy projects in Chile, Uruguay, Brazil and Mexico.
- Latin America Acquisition Deal of the Year – Saesa Enel Transmission Acquisition: Milbank represented Sociedad Transmisora Metropolitana SpA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Inversiones Grupo Saesa, Chile's largest power distribution company, in connection with its $1.1 billion dual-currency secured syndicated acquisition loan to partially finance its $1.5 billion acquisition of Enel Transmisión Chile S.A. The acquisition, which was structured as a privately negotiated share acquisition and a concurrent public tender offer on the Chilean Stock Exchange (Bolsa de Comercio de Santiago, Bolsa de Valores), closed on December 9.
- Latin America Solar Deal of the Year – Carbonfree Distributed Solar Portfolio: Milbank represented the lender in connection with the financing of 17 photovoltaic PMGD projects in Chile, sponsored by Connor, Clark and Lunn Solar LP and CF Chile Partners LP.
