Milbank LLP Global Project, Energy & Infrastructure Finance partner John Dewar and special counsel Munib Hussain served as Contributing Editors of The Islamic Finance and Markets Law Review, Seventh Edition, published by The Law Reviews. They also authored the Preface and the United Kingdom chapter.
The Islamic Finance and Markets Law Review, Seventh Edition, provides in-depth information about the manner in which Islamic, or Shariah-compliant, finance is practised in various jurisdictions throughout the world. Islamic finance has grown rapidly during the past 25 years in terms of market participants, structuring expertise and transaction types. While each country has variations, Islamic finance as a legal discipline includes core concepts and structures that cross jurisdictional boundaries.
John Dewar is a renowned global project finance lawyer and leads Milbank’s Islamic finance practice. He has a reputation for advising on innovative, “market-first” transactions around the world, particularly multi-sourced financings, including those involving multilateral and export credit agencies and Islamic institutions. He has advised on some of the most complex Shariah-compliant structured, leveraged and project finance transactions, as well as on sukuk issuances and Islamic finance restructurings.
Munib Hussain is a member of the firm’s Islamic Finance Business Unit. He has broad experience in advising lenders, sponsors and sovereigns on international projects, energy and infrastructure financings, and restructurings involving ECAs, multilaterals, and commercial and Islamic banks.
