Milbank hosted ten presidential candidates at its new global headquarters in Hudson Yards as part of a nonpartisan town hall series, which brought attorneys from across the firm’s offices together for a unfiltered conversation with each candidate. Attendees included attorneys, including summer associates, from across the firm’s global offices.
The town hall format, which involved a short presentation by each candidate followed by a question and answer session with the audience, was designed to introduce the 2020 presidential candidates to the Milbank community and kickstart a discussion about the election’s key issues. Attorneys had the opportunity to speak with John Hickenlooper, Julián Castro, Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand, Eric Swalwell, Beto O’Rourke, Seth Moulton, John Delaney, William Weld and Joe Sestak on their platforms, and to pose questions about their fiscal, diplomatic and legislative priorities.
“The firm facilitated this nonpartisan initiative to start a conversation between the candidates and our attorneys about proposed policies and legislation that could shape the future,” said Leveraged Finance partner Jerome McCluskey, who moderated the town hall sessions. “The opportunity to speak with, question and debate each politician on their views gives our attorneys a new way to be politically engaged and informed on the upcoming election’s significant issues,” he added.
