Milbank Advises Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation on Innovative Warehouse Credit Facility to Finance Hydro Renewable Energy Projects in Peru

Milbank LLP represented Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) in connection with a US$100 million warehouse credit facility, with the initial disbursement used to finance the development of a hydroelectric power plant located in the Corongo, Yanca and La Pampa Districts in the Province of Corongo, Departamento of Ancash, Peru.

The facility will also support the construction and operation of several renewable energy projects that will contribute to Peru’s sustainable energy infrastructure and help meet growing regional demand. The hydroelectric plant is expected to deliver long-term environmental and economic benefits to the surrounding communities.

The Milbank deal team was led by Corporate Finance & Securities partner Carlos Albarracín and Jaime Ramirez, co-head of Milbank’s Latin America Practice Group and Global Project, Energy and Infrastructure Finance partner, along with special counsel Daniel Rios Zertuche and associates Ana Bueno and Rafael Bresciani.
