Milbank Litigation partner and Global Executive Committee member Stacey J. Rappaport was recently spotlighted in a Q&A with the Fordham Lawyer titled “Stacey J. Rappaport ’96: Making Law Firms (and the World) a Better Place for Women.”
The profile, which spans Ms. Rappaport’s academic and professional trajectory, highlights her membership on the boards of nonprofit organizations that advocate for gender equality and for victims of gender violence.
In her profile, Ms. Rappaport discusses the importance of building a supportive, strategic network and the impact that leadership programs have had on her career. As a member and former chair of Milbank’s Women’s Initiative, Ms. Rappaport has brought these programs’ transformational lessons back to the firm. Describing her work with the Women’s Initiative, she says, “Our job is to ensure that female associates and partners at the firm are getting the same opportunities as male associates and partners, and that they know how to recognize and make the most of those opportunities.”
Noting that mentorship is vital to women’s advancement in the field of law, she continued: “The firm is committed to providing opportunities [for women] to reach their full potential. We have to build the pipeline [of women in big law firms] over time until we have enough of a critical mass. That will be meaningful change. It takes time, but we are moving in the right direction.”
