Primary Focus & Experience
Mr. Folds has extensive experience representing both lenders and sponsors in connection with project finance, tax equity and acquisition transactions across a wide variety of industries within the domestic and international conventional energy, renewables and infrastructure sectors.
His recent experience includes the representation of:
- A major energy sponsor in connection with a series of tax equity transactions in support of two solar projects with a combined size of 450MW located in Riverside County, California, a 240MW solar project located in Lamar County, Texas and a 200MW solar project located in Milam County, Texas.
- The lenders in connection with a $675 million financing to be used for the construction of a portfolio of utility-scale solar, standalone storage and combined facilities in the United States.
- The coordinating leading arrangers in connection with an approximately $544 million financing of a 250 MWac / 1000 MWh standalone battery storage facility to be located in Maricopa County, Arizona.
- LS Power in connection with the acquisition of over 3 GWs of top-performing renewable, energy storage, flexible gas and renewable fuels generation capacity and approximately 1.8 GWs of development projects throughout the United States and Canada.
- The borrower in connection with a $740 million financing for the acquisition of a 4.9 GW portfolio of conventional power plants located at several sites within the states of California, Connecticut and New York.
- The lenders in connection with a $372.5 million financing of a new floating production system and associated crude oil and natural gas export pipelines to be located off the coast of Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico.
- The lenders in connection with separate project financings in an aggregate amount equal to more than $145 million for the construction of two renewable natural gas facilities located in Tennessee and Kentucky intended to produce renewable natural gas from the by-products of the whiskey distillation process.
- The lenders in connection with an $810 million project financing supporting the acquisition of an interest in real estate ultimately leased to a large healthcare provider for the operation of 6 hospitals in and around Salt Lake City, Utah.
Recognition & Accomplishments
Mr. Folds earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar. He received his B.A. with distinction from the University of Virginia.
