Primary Focus & Experience
Mr. Sarna’s practice focuses on the representation of project sponsors and financial institutions on a range of US and cross-border project development and financing transactions across the power, mining and digital infrastructure sectors.
His recent representations include:
- East West Bank and Investec in connection with the tax equity bridge loan financings for the construction of two 100 MW / 200 MWh battery energy storage facilities located in Texas.
- Commercial lenders and export credit agencies (including EDC, JBIC, KEXIM and KfW IPEX-Bank) in connection with the $2.5 billion financing for the expansion of the Centinela copper mine in Chile (named “Mining Deal of the Year” by IJGlobal and “Latin America Export Finance Deal of the Year” by TXF Perfect 10).
- The sponsor in connection with the refinancing of three credit facilities to support a 4.2 GW portfolio of natural gas-fired power plants located across Pennsylvania, Ohio and Texas.
- The lender in connection with the refinancing of a portfolio of operating solar projects in California and New Mexico.
- The sponsor in connection with the financing of an approximately 230 MW combined-cycle gas turbine power plant in Florida.
- The lenders in connection with the $400 million financing of a data center in Virginia.
- The sponsor in connection with the tax equity financing for a utility-scale solar project in Texas.
- The lenders (including a multilateral development bank) in connection with a $40 million green loan financing for the construction and operation of solar, battery, EV and utilities infrastructure projects in the Dominican Republic.
- The lenders in connection with the $200 million refinancing of a 100 MW solar photovoltaic facility in Chile.
Recognition & Accomplishments
Mr. Sarna earned his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law. He received his M.F.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and B.A. from Wheaton College.
