Primary Focus & Experience
Mr. Balch’s practice focuses on representing financial institutions and corporations in the aerospace industry. He has advised on a wide variety of transactions, including asset-based securitizations, acquisition financings, financial restructurings, mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, equipment and capacity leases, launch services, launch and in-orbit insurance matters, procurements and service contracts related to aircraft, satellites, launch vehicles, space infrastructure and fiber assets.
His experience includes working on several of the most significant transactions in the aerospace industry, including transactions that have been recognized by industry publications as “Deals of the Year.”
Mr. Balch’s recent experience has included representing:
- A satellite operator in a collaboration to enable direct-to-device (D2D) satellite use-cases;
- A satellite operator in the negotiation of launch services agreements and capacity agreements in connection with the deployment of a low-earth-orbit (LEO) constellation;
- A satellite manufacturer in the acquisition financing of a portfolio of geosynchronous (GEO) satellites;
- A private equity firm in the acquisition of a spectrum portfolio; and
- Various lenders, investors and companies in the securitization or other financing of aircraft portfolios, fiber optic networks, and wireless networks.

Mr. Balch earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and received his B.A. in History from Cornell University.
