Andrea L. Hamilton is a partner and a member of the firm’s Corporate Group. 

Primary Focus & Experience

Ms. Hamilton has extensive experience in advising and representing companies before the UK Competition and Markets Authority (“CMA) and the European Commission in merger control reviews and antitrust investigations. She also has experience in UK foreign investment control reviews as well as in antitrust litigation and counseling clients on key strategic antitrust matters and compliance. She is recognized as a leading practitioner in competition practice directories.

Ms. Hamilton has extensive experience with leading industrial clients, including Praxair (now Linde plc), Amcor plc and Lockheed Martin all of whom she advised in connection with the competition aspects of important strategic transactions. She has also advised clients active in key areas of life sciences and private equity sponsors.

Recognition & Accomplishments

Ms. Hamilton is a member of the International Bar Association Antitrust Committee serving as a member of its Mergers Working Group and as a co-chair of its Ad Hoc Working Group on Digital Economy. She is also a member of the American Bar Association Antitrust Section. She is a co-editor and co-author of Gun Jumping in Merger Control.

In 2021, Ms. Hamilton was named by Global Competition Review to its Women in Antitrust survey in view of her outstanding contribution to the international antitrust community. Previously, in 2015, she was recognized by Global Competition Review as one of the 40 leading private practitioners in the world under the age of 40.

Ms. Hamilton received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in EC Competition Law and an M.A. from King’s College, London and a B.A., cum laude, from Whitman College. She is a qualified Solicitor of England & Wales and a member of the New York and Washington, DC bars as well as a member of the Brussels Bar (B-List).

Ms. Hamilton’s antitrust experience spans both sides of the Atlantic. Prior to joining Milbank in 2021, she began practicing law in 2003 and was promoted to partner in 2012 at an international firm, where she has worked in offices in Washington, DC, Brussels and London.
