Two Standout Public-Private Partnership Projects Recognized at 2017 P3 Awards Ceremony

Two of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy’s LLP’s public-private partnership and infrastructure finance transactions were honored at the 4th Annual P3 Awards ceremony in Washington, DC on September 26, 2017. The awards ceremony covers standout projects and companies across the United States and Latin America. The finalists, selected by an 80-strong judging panel, were awarded for outstanding achievements in public-private partnerships across the Americas.  

Milbank’s Global Project, Energy and Infrastructure Finance Group was involved in the following award-winning transactions:

  • Vista Ridge Regional Supply Project, USA – “Best Utilities Project” – GOLD Award
    Milbank acted as counsel to the lenders on the innovative Vista Ridge project, comprising a water well field, pumping stations and a 142-mile pipeline which will increase the municipal water supply for San Antonio by 20%. With a total project cost of almost US$923 million, the Project is one of the largest public-private partnerships yet in the water sector and a landmark transaction for the United States P3 market.
  • Ohio State University Comprehensive Energy Management Project – “P3 Bulletin Special Award”
    Milbank acted as counsel to a group of institutional investors and commercial bank lenders in the financing of the concession entered into by The Ohio State University for its Comprehensive Energy Management Project. The Project provides the University with a total value of US$1.165 billion, and delivers modernization of the heating, cooling and electricity systems in the University’s 485-building Columbus campus.

This year’s awards ceremony, presented by P3 Bulletin, was preceded by the P3 Hub Americas conference, which brought together key figures from the Americas to discuss the past year of innovations as well as market outlook for 2018.
