Milbank LLP partners Josh Sterling and Olivia Choe and special counsel Jon Ammons will speak on prediction markets at a breakout session during DC Fintech Week 2026, taking place October 13–16, 2026.
The session titled, “Futures Tense: Prediction Markets, Regulation and the Fight Over What You Can Trade,” will be held on October 14, 2026, from 2:15 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. at Amazon HQ2. Mr. Sterling, former Director of the CFTC's Market Participants Division, Ms. Choe, former Chief Litigation Counsel at the SEC, and Milbank special counsel Jon Ammons will offer a candid discussion of what comes next for prediction markets.
The panel will examine how the legal battle over event contracts has reshaped the regulatory landscape, why the CFTC's proposed rulemaking matters for platforms and market participants and what the emerging circuit split means for the future of federal oversight.
The team is currently leading Milbank’s nationwide litigation efforts concerning the legality of event contracts and prediction markets, as well as assisting several other early-stage and established companies with developing new financial products like perpetual futures and security futures.
