At last night’s Infrastructure Journal ESG Awards Dinner in London, Milbank LLP received an award for advising the Lenders on the 505 MW Amunet Wind Project, the largest wind farm in Egypt. This is the sixth “Deal of the Year” award for Amunet from leading legal and business publications.

The Amunet Wind Project was announced in Cairo on 30 November 2022 around COP27. The US$800 million finance package supports UAE-based AMEA Power and Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation to build, own and operate the Amunet wind farm which will help reduce Egypt's carbon footprint by 1.7 million tons of greenhouse gases annually.

The widespread industry acknowledgement underscores Milbank’s growing ESG practice, which integrates transactional, regulatory and litigation capabilities to provide clients sophisticated, cross-border legal and commercial advice focused on the energy transition and sustainable development.

“Environmental, social and governance considerations are playing a significantly larger role in business and financing decisions,” said John Dewar, a partner in Milbank’s Global Project, Energy and Infrastructure Finance Group. “We are very much focused on offering clients the guidance and insight needed to achieve their sustainability goals.”

Milbank has received the following awards for its work on the Amunet Wind Project:
