A testament to the firm’s booming work in the energy and infrastructure sector, five Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP practice areas in Asia were ranked in the highest tier by the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) in its latest IFLR1000 guide to Energy and Infrastructure law firms.
Additionally, Milbank’s energy and infrastructure practices were awarded top-tier rankings in Latin America—a region in which the firm’s long-standing experience advising on high-profile business transactions is matched only by the range of work across sectors and in nations from Mexico to Argentina.
To compile the rankings, UK-based IFLR interviewed lawyers, in-house counsel, and leading figures across business, finance, and other industry sectors.
In the Asia-Pacific region, IFLR ranked Milbank in the highest tier for Mining, Oil & Gas, Transport, Infrastructure, and Energy. In one of its recent large transactions in the region, the firm advised major international lenders behind the $4.3 billion Central Java electricity generation plant, which upon completion will be among Asia’s largest.
Milbank was also included in the highest tier of international law firms in Japan and South Korea for Energy and Infrastructure as a whole, and in Tier 2 among foreign firms in China, Singapore, and the Philippines.
In Latin America, where Milbank has completed a variety of important transactions in the renewables, utilities, and oil exploration infrastructure spaces, IFLR ranked the firm in the highest tier for Energy and Infrastructure.
