Milbank Partners Recognized as 2020 IP Stars by Managing Intellectual Property


Milbank has been named as one of Managing Intellectual Property’s IP Stars for 2020. For “Patent Contentious” matters, Milbank is recognized as Recommended in both California and New York.

Additionally, four Milbank partners were individually recognized as IP Stars in various categories:

  • David Gindler was recognized in California as a Patent Star. Mr. Gindler’s practice focuses on intellectual property litigation and licensing, with an emphasis in complex patent litigation. His work spans a broad array of industries and technologies. He has achieved extraordinary trial outcomes for both plaintiffs and defendants, including a $302 million verdict for breach of a research and license agreement, as well as defeating a $217 million damages claim where liability had already been established in an earlier trial handled by a different law firm.
  • Gary Frischling was recognized in California as a Patent Star. Mr. Frischling’s practice centers on complex, high-stakes intellectual property disputes, including patent, copyright, trademark, unfair competition and trade secret litigation. He also offers prelitigation strategic counseling, IP portfolio management, and advises clients on a variety of related transactions and matters.
  • Errol Taylor was recognized in New York as a Patent Star. Mr. Taylor represents research pharmaceutical, biotechnology and chemical companies in patent litigation, appeals and related counseling. He was a biologist who worked in pharmaceutical research before becoming a lawyer. He has over 25 years of experience advising companies in complex patent issues and has been recognized as one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical attorneys. He has served as lead trial and appellate counsel in numerous multi-party, multinational cases for leading biopharmaceutical companies involving some of the world’s most prescribed medicines.
  • Chris Gaspar was recognized in New York as a Patent Star. Mr. Gaspar’s technology litigation and trial practice spans all levels of state and federal courts, international arbitration, and the US International Trade Commission. He serves as lead counsel and trial advocate for the world’s largest and leading technology companies, who call upon Milbank for advice on their most complex litigation matters. He regularly advises on technologies and products in the biotechnology, electrical, semiconductor, computer, financial-services, and medical-device fields.
