Milbank LLP partner Dara Panahy, who leads Milbank’s Transportation and Space Group in Washington, DC, and Transportation and Space and Global Risk & National Security partner Bijan Ganji spoke at the World Bank Group’s Learning Session, “Connecting the Unconnected: Unleashing Satellite Opportunities,” on May 6, 2025. The session explored new satellite business models and the capacity of GEO, MEO and LEO constellations to provide cost-effective solutions in emerging markets to connect the unconnected.
The presentation, “Connecting the Unconnected: Structures, Services & Key Regulatory Considerations,” addressed the fundamentals of satellite financings and cross-border regulatory considerations. Mr. Panahy and Mr. Ganji also discussed the satellite industry in emerging markets and efforts to expand affordable, high-quality internet access.
