Bijan Ganji is special counsel in the Washington, DC office of Milbank and a member of the firm’s Transportation and Space Group and Global Risk & National Security Practice. Mr. Ganji joined Milbank in 2011.

Primary Focus & Experience

Mr. Ganji represents clients involved in the aerospace and communications industries, such as satellite operators, aerospace manufacturers, launch services providers, communications companies, banks, private equity firms and hedge funds in strategic transactions, project contracts and a variety of financing contexts, including mergers & acquisitions, satellite and launch services procurements, public offerings and high yield debt issuances, project and vendor financings, and financial restructurings and reorganizations.

Recognition & Accomplishments

Mr. Ganji has published articles on international trade regulatory matters in the aerospace industry. He earned his Juris Doctor, with honors, from The George Washington University Law School and his Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service, cum laude, from Georgetown University. He is fluent in Persian and conversational in French and Italian.

Primary Focus & Experience

Mr. Ganji advises clients on global commerce, commodity transfer and foreign direct investment regulatory matters, including economic sanctions administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the U.S. Department of State, Office of Economic Sanctions Policy and Implementation, export controls administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and the U.S. Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and US anti-boycott laws and regulations. His clients include investment banks, private equity firms, commercial banks and various corporate and institutional actors, in their roles as lenders, underwriters, borrowers, issuers, purchasers and sellers and in general corporate and strategic activities.
