Singapore partner Jacqueline Chan will participate as a legal expert panel speaker at the “Singapore Masterclass: Corporate Transactions and the IRDA” webinar organized by the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (“IWIRC”) of Singapore to be held on July 30, 2021.
In July 2020, Singapore’s Bankruptcy Act was repealed and replaced with the Insolvency, Restructuring and Dissolution Act, or IRDA, which aims to set a common and consistent standard of professional regulation and accountability and strengthen Singapore’s overall position as a leading international hub for debt restructuring.
At the one-year anniversary of the implementation of the IRDA, the panel will examine its impact and how to navigate its provisions and mitigate risk in corporate drafting. Anyone with an interest in the development of restructuring practices in Singapore and its application to international restructuring transactions will find the topic to be of significant interest.
Ms. Chan advises on a wide range of international corporate finance transactions and merger-and-acquisition transactions, and regularly represents sponsors, borrowers and lenders on complex cross-border acquisition finance transactions. She specializes in structuring complex debt and equity transactions for clients both within and outside of Southeast Asia.
Founded in 1994, and with a global membership of more than 1,000 attorneys, bankers, corporate-turnaround professionals, financial advisors and other restructuring practitioners, IWIRC’s mission is the connection, promotion and success of women in the insolvency and restructuring professions worldwide. The organization provides resources at the global and local network levels, including seminars, intellectual capital, career resources, leadership opportunities and guidance for personal and professional development.
