David Zemans, Managing Partner of Milbank LLP’s Asia Practice and Singapore office, recently joined literacy and gender equality non-profit Room to Read at the New York Stock Exchange to ring the opening bell. Mr. Zemans is a longtime ASEAN Board Member of Room to Read, a global education non-profit creating a world free from illiteracy and gender inequality.
Founded in 2000, Room to Read helps children in historically low-income communities develop literacy skills and a habit of reading, and supports girls as they build skills to succeed in school and negotiate key life decisions. Room to Read collaborates with governments and other partner organizations to deliver positive outcomes for children at scale. The organization has benefited more than 32 million children in over 49,000 communities across 21 countries, providing additional support through remote solutions that facilitate learning beyond the classroom. Room to Read aims to benefit 40 million children by 2025.
“It was an honor to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange,” said Mr. Zemans. “I have been a part of this fantastic organization for a number of years, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to celebrate Room to Read’s mission to cultivate a future free of gender inequality.”
