NEW YORK, March 18, 2015 - Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy received awards for five of its 2014 financing transactions, plus the overall prize for “Americas Law Firm of the Year,” at the IJGlobal Americas Awards ceremony in New York, sponsored by Infrastructure Journal and Project Finance magazine. Also in 2014, Milbank received the Chambers Latin America “Award for Excellence in Projects” and was named as “Best Infrastructure Law Firm” by LatinFinance.
The awards, held March 12, recognized excellence, achievement, and innovation in energy and infrastructure finance.
In addition to taking home Americas Law Firm of the Year, Milbank was honored in the following categories:
- North American Acquisition: Milbank advised investors and bank lenders in the acquisition of a state-of-the-art container terminal in Portsmouth, VA.
- North American Renewables: The firm represented Google as tax equity investor in its financing for Sun Edison’s 82MW solar project in California.
- North American Single-Asset Power: Milbank was counsel to lead underwriters BNP Paribas and Crédit Agricole in the project financing for an 869MW natural gas power generation project in Ohio.
- Latin American Solar: The firm advised lenders BBVA and Corpbanca in the project financing for a 69.5MW solar power project in Chile.
- Latin American Wind: Milbank represented Goldman Sachs and Bank of America Merrill Lynch as initial purchasers of green bonds issued by Peru’s Energía Eólica to finance two wind farms in Peru.
